NEWS RELEASE JUNE 3, 2026
Community Futures Cedar Lake Region Announces Return of "Investing in Our Futures" Grant Program for 2026-2027
THE PAS, MB — June 3, 2026 — Community Futures Cedar Lake Region (CF Cedar Lake) is excited to announce the continuation of its highly successful Investing in Our Futures (IIOF) Grant Program for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Since its launch, the program has served as a powerful catalyst for grassroots development. Between January 2022 and March 2026, CF Cedar Lake proudly awarded over $157,000 in grant funding to support 40 community-driven projects across the region.
“We are incredibly pleased with the impact the Investing in Our Futures Grant Program continues to make,” commented Joe Cote, General Manager of CF Cedar Lake. “The program has been a vital resource for local groups turning great ideas into community realities. For example, IIOF Grant dollars recently helped fund critical repairs to the storm-damaged Opasquia Trails floating boardwalk at Grace Lake, and allowed the Sam Waller Museum to acquire versatile new display cases. To ensure fairness and maximize community impact, this program is strictly designed to provide one-time funding for new initiatives, rather than supporting ongoing operational costs or multi-phase projects. Our goal is to ensure these limited dollars are distributed broadly to empower as many unique grassroots community successes as possible.”
GRANT DETAILS & ELIGIBILITY
•
For the 2026-2027 stream, selected projects will be funded on a matching basis, up to a maximum of $2,500.
•
The grant is open to non-profit groups, community organizations, community councils, First Nations/Métis councils, and schools located within the CF Cedar Lake service region. Please note: For-profit businesses and non-profit business organizations are not eligible to apply.
FUNDING POLICY FOR APPLICANTS:
•
To ensure equitable distribution of limited funds, preference will be given to first-time applicants and grassroots non-profit organizations.
•
Priority will be given to an organization’s first application. Any additional submissions will be reviewed at the final intake deadline, December 31, 2026, subject to available funding.
•
The "One-and-Done" Project Rule: CF Cedar Lake will only fund a specific project once.
•
No Multi-Phase Splitting: Subdivisions of a larger project (for example: applying for separate phases, individual rooms, or multi-year upgrades to the same recreational project or complex) will not be considered separate initiatives. Once an overall project has received funding, it is ineligible for future IIOF grants. Returning organizations may only apply if the application is for an entirely unrelated, brand-new community project.
•
Application Readiness: Applications will not be presented to the board for consideration until all required supporting documentation has been fully received.
•
Disbursement of Funds: The IIOF Grant funds will be disbursed when the project has been completed and the final report, along with project photographs, official invoices, and receipts, has been received.
IMPORTANT DATES TO NOTE:
•
Eligible Project Window: Expenses must be incurred between April 1, 2026, and March 1, 2027.
•
Application Intake Windows: Applications will be reviewed monthly. The intake deadline is the last day of each month up to December 31, 2026 (subject to available funding).
•
Final Reporting Deadline: March 15, 2027 (complete with project photographs, invoices, and receipts).
