CFCLR Investing in Our Futures Grant Update

NEWS RELEASE - INVESTING IN OUR FUTURES GRANT UPDATE

March 21, 2022

Spring sprung early as Community Futures Cedar Lake Region once again took advantage of the nice weather, and was out in the community presenting cheques on behalf of the “Investing in Our Futures” grant, which was created to support community projects that add to the general well-being of a community, while stimulating economic growth.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of Community Futures Cedar Lake were Joe Cote, General Manager, Carrie Atkinson, Chairperson, and Rod Berezowecki, Treasurer.

Cheques were presented to:

  • Sharain Jones, Sam Waller Museum - $5000 for conservation supplies to update the Museum’s collection storage.
  • Dave Ferguson, Rall’s Island Community Centre - $5000 for improved lighting around the rink, hockey nets, and a snowblower
  • Roberta Marlow, Carrot Valley Community Centre -$3700 ($2500 towards a cell phone booster for the community centre, and $1700 towards the repair/replacement of playground equipment)
  • Desarae George and Holly LaJambe, The Pas Community Renewal Corporation - $5000 for a series of barrier-free certificate courses taught by primarily local instructors.

A $1500 cheque will be present to Rikki Genaille and Edie Turner from the Cormorant Community Council at a later date. The funds are to support improvements to the Community Firehall shower.

“We are grateful to Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) for the funding that enables us to create programs such as the “Investing in Our Futures” grant,” stated Joe Cote. “We look forward to continuing to support businesses and organizations in our communities.”

While the intake for the “Investing in Our Futures” grant has been closed. CF Cedar Lake Region is still available to help people in our region start or expand a business, and to help sustain and improve communities and their local economies by delivering a variety of services including loans, technical and advisory services for small and medium-sized businesses, including services targeted to youth and entrepreneurs with disabilities, and community development and planning.
