Board of Directors/Committees

Community Futures North Red's Board of Directors is composed of 9 persons with representation from each municipality within the region - St. Andrews, Selkirk, St. Clements, East St. Paul & West St. Paul.  Directors cover a wide range of sector interests throughout the region. Current board members include:

Kurtiss Krasnesky, St. Andrews - Chairman - Kurtiss has been a member of the St. Andrews area for over 24 years.  He is a former council member and had operated his own business for many years. He is currently a mortgage broker bringing finance and entrepreneurial knowledge to the board of directors.

 Kristin Hoebee, St. Andrews - Vice Chair - Kristin works in franchise development for a national sign and graphics company providing a diverse array of support to the Canadian locations. She looks after accounting and franchise administrative duties as well as Franchise and Marketing development. Kristin comes from a background of both retail management and office accounting

George Smith, Selkirk - George has been a resident of Selkirk for over 50 years. He has owned and operated a number of business through the years and brings an invaluable amount of entrepreneurial knowledge and experience to the board.

Tim Feduniw, Selkirk - Tim has spent his career leading economic development departments/organizations or serving in a senior economic development role. He has held the following positions: Director of Economic Development (Portage la Prairie), Manager of Economic Development (Medicine Hat), President and CEO, Regina Regional Economic Development Authority, Senior Manager, Economic Development Winnipeg and is currently employed as the Director, Sustainable Economic Development, Selkirk. All roles have involved working with businesses of all types and sizes, all government levels, chambers of commerce, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and research interests.   

David Bjornson, St. Andrews - David is a lifelong resident of Selkirk and had operated an electrical business in the area for many years. Currently retired David commits countless hours to his volunteer positions he holds on several not for profit organizations. David has an abundance of experience as an entrepreneur and volunteer.

Carla Devlin, East St. Paul - Carla is the Mayor of East St. Paul and the President of Carrington Property Developments. She has been in the industry for over 17 years and is the General Contractor on all her sites, and clients are able to deal directly with her on all aspects of a project. Her understanding and passion as a home builder provides clients with the peace of mind that their vision, timeline, and budget are met. Carla really cares about these buildings and the people who plan on living in them. Carla does not take short cuts. As a community-focused company, she takes a long-term view of her work and reputation – Carla wants her projects to bring value to neighborhoods, and to do work that she can be proud of in 20 years, as she is today. Carrington Property Developments is committed to the design, build, renovation, sale and rental of quality properties at affordable costs. From custom built luxury homes, multi-family units, and lakefront cottages, integrity and respect is at the core of every project. Carrington Property Developments has had the opportunity to build and market several boutique developments.

Emil Seniuk, St. Clements - Emil has been a resident of St. Clements for over 40 years. He has owned and operated several restaurants and a hotel through the years and brings an invaluable amount of hospitality industry knowledge and entrepreneurial experience to the board.

Kayla Amorim, West St. Paul - Treasurer - Kayla graduated with a B. Comm. (U of M) majoring in SCM/Logistics and Finance, and worked within the transportation industry holding numerous roles. As a Business Analyst, Kayla focused on expanding service offerings and introduced complementary/value added services to the existing customer base. She has also run targeted marketing campaigns and small acquisitions to further increase the customer base. Other major roles have involved financial management as well as reviewing the financial viability of any new acquisitions. Kayla is proficient in business consulting and brings valuable experience and business knowledge to the board.

Committees:

Executive Committee:

The Executive Committee consists of the Chair, the Vice-Chair and the Secretary/Treasurer.  The Executive Committee deals with matters from the ongoing operations of CF North Red requiring immediate attention.

Investment Review Committee:

The Investment Review Committee consists of the entire Board of Directors.  The IRC determines the viability of applications and has the authority to make investments on behalf of Community Futures North Red. The IRC meets as often as required.

Other Committees:

Ad-hoc committees are formed on an as-needed basis for special projects and initiatives.

Board Composition:

The property and business of the Corporation shall be managed by a Board of Directors consisting of 9 members.  The ownership and control of the Corporation is vested in this Board of Directors, who represent a cross-section of geographic and sectorial interests from throughout the region.  To reach this representation the region is divided into five zones, St. Andrews, Selkirk, St. Clements, East St. Paul & West St. Paul. The Corporation will strive to have gender balanced representation.  Composition of the board will aim to represent at least five of these sectors:

• Entrepreneurship
• Education
• Finance
• Tourism
• Ag Service
• Economic/Community Development
• Healthcare

Board Recruitment:

Residents of the North Red Region may apply to become Community Futures board members.  Nominations are also accepted from the sitting board of directors. The term is not to exceed nine consecutive years. If this maximum has been realized, the Board member must take a one (1) year minimum hiatus from the Board of Directors.  Applications and nominations are reviewed by the board of directors followed by a ballot vote to accept new directors.
