Board Profile:  As members of CFWR, each local government in the region is entitled to appoint someone from their council or community to sit on the CFWR Board of Directors. The thirteen-member board is geographically representative of most parts of the region and is comprised of three women and eleven men.  Collectively, a wide variety of skills and knowledge exist on the board which include board governance, marketing, small business operations, administration, policing and conservation.

Executive Committee: The Committee is made up of the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson and Secretary/Treasurer. Committee roles are to monitor progress towards achieving company goals; and to help Executive Director prepare recommendations to the full board regarding by-laws, policies, planning, budgeting and personnel matters.

Investment Review Committee (IRC): The Committee consists of 5 people, of which the majority must be Board Directors. We seek diverse experience and knowledge relative to entrepreneurship, business development and management, and commercial lending. IRC members are appointed annually in January by the Board of Directors. Committee roles are to determine the viability of loan and Self-Employment Program applications on behalf of CFWR.

Other Committees: Ad-hoc committees are formed on an as-needed basis for special projects and initiatives.

Board Composition: The property and business of CFWR is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of eleven to seventeen directors, who represent a cross-section of geographic and sectorial interests from throughout the region. CFWR strives to have gender balanced representation with various skills and experience in board governance and areas related to our services of business development, lending, and community economic development.

Board Recruitment:  The local government of each community in the region is considered to be a "member" of CFWR and has the right to appoint one person to the CFWR Board of Directors. The representative may be from the local Council or the community at large. Each member shall designate its director by resolution provided in writing to CFWR by December 1st of each year.  If a member has not appointed a director by December 1st, the seat will be deemed vacant.  The Board of Directors must ensure the minimum board size of 11 directors exist. The Board may also appoint additional directors to fill gaps as long as the maximum number of directors is not exceeded. Directors may serve a maximum of nine one-year terms before requiring a minimum one-year break.
