Gimli Food Ecosystems Asset Mapping Workshop

Presented by Food & Beverage Manitoba and Community Futures

Are you a food entrepreneur or small-scale farmer seeking assistance with post-COVID recovery or growth? Do you wonder how to take your business to the next level? Are you interested to learn what supports exist that can help you start, grow, or scale your food-based business? Or, are you a service-provider, researcher or product developer that works with food entrepreneurs or small-scale farmers? Help us understand what you and your clients need to stabilize, strengthen and grow the Interlake’s food and agriculture businesses!

Food and Beverage Manitoba and Community Futures want to understand how we can help you. Join us for a food ecosystem focused asset mapping session on May 25 to strengthen our local Food and Agriculture Industry. This session will bring together community members, business owners, and industry professionals to identify regional assets and attributes in your communities that you’d like to grow and preserve. The session is part of a larger community-driven, ecosystem-building project that will help set the trajectory for the Food and Agriculture Industry post-COVID and inform future investments for a more resilient food ecosystem.

In this facilitated session, we hope to support Manitoba’s Food and Agriculture Industry by collaborating to:

  • Create an inventory of all the good things you’d like to grow and maintain within the Food and Agriculture Industry in your region and the Province;
  • Rank the most valued aspects in your community that make this industry enjoyable;
  • Discuss a strategy of how to sustain and grow the assets by mitigating threats and exploring opportunities.

Project outcomes:

  • Inform future investments in infrastructure and services
  • Create connections between regions and communities
  • Support post-COVID recovery
  • Encourage collaboration, diversity and sustainability
  • Create pathways for entrepreneurs and business owners to sustain and grow their business by connecting them to services, equipment, expertise and capital.

Refreshments provided. All participants will be entered to win a draw for a Manitoba Local Food Prize Basket (valued at $100). Want to learn more?
