Community Development

CDC Committee

Community Futures North Central Development's (CFNCD's) Community Development Committee (CDC) meet on a bi-monthly basis throughout the year, or as required.
Committee Members are elected during the AGM for a period of one year, and do not have to be CFNCD board members.

CDC members for the 2020/2021 fiscal year are:
• Darlene Beck, Board Member, Incorporated Community of Cross Lake (Committee Chair)
• June Chu, Board Member, Wabowden
• Frances McIvor, Volunteer, Wabowden
• Penny Byer, Volunteer, Thompson

For many years Community Futures North Central Development was the coordinating partner for Tourism North Manitoba, a regional association focused on stimulating the tourism sector north of the 53rd parallel.
A strategy process was led by a stakeholder steering committee supported by Travel Manitoba and Tourism North. The result of this process is the 2017-2022 Northern Manitoba Tourism Strategy. Strategic priorities identified in this process fell into 5 areas:
1. Organization and Communications
2. Tourism Marketing
3. Tourism Product and Experience Development
4. Infrastructure Enhancement and Development
5. Policy and Regulations
As a pilot project, Travel MB has hired a consultant to carry out regional efforts.
Community Futures North Central Development will continue to participate on a Steering Committee which will guide tourism efforts in the north.
