Hubs Summer Book Club

Join us for a summer of reading, reflecting, and growth (both, business and personal). As we enter June, and National Indigenous History Month, we are going start off the book club with a book on the history of Residential Schools in Canada from the Truth and Reconciliation Committee. We are committed to learning and contributing to conversations surrounding Indigenous history in Canada. We will continue with our book club by exploring three entrepreneurial themes. Our second book will explore the business story; where they started, where they are now, and how they got there. Moving onto the third book, we will read a mindset book to get you in that "I can do this!" frame of mind, because you can definitely do it! And we will finish off with a skill builder book, because you can always learn something while you enjoy reading.

What will the book club look like?

  • 4 week reading periods
  • 4 books between June and September
    • A Knock on the Door: The Essential History of Residential Schools from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
    • Move the Needle: Yarns from an Unlikely Entrepreneur by Shelley Brander
    • Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek
    • Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear
  • Reflection questions to think about while reading
  • Participation in a group discussion at the end of the reading period (optional)

We understand that time, financial, and emotional constraint may affect your ability to participate in all four books listed above, but stress that you are welcome to join us for one or all books in the reading schedule.

*Please note, all participants are responsible for acquiring their own copy of the books for the book club. All books chosen are available as a physical copy, e-book, or audio book for your convenience.
