Community Futures financing is specifically designed for entrepreneurs to start up, maintain, expand, or purchase a business in a rural community. Financial solutions are flexible and tailored to meet the needs of the individual business. Decisions are made locally by a board of directors from the Parkland region.

Guidelines:

• Financing available up to $150,000 per client.
• Micro loans available up to $10,000 per client.
• Both loan and line of credit options are available.
• Business plan may be required in order for financing to be considered. CF Parkland offers business planning templates and assistance upon request, at no cost.
• Fixed interest rates start at Bank of Canada prime plus 2%. Interest rates are assessed on a case by case basis and determined by board of directors.
• Maximum amortization period is 10 years, 5 years for micro loans, and 3 years for line of credits.
• Collateral may be required to secure the financing. 
• Loans are not subject to pre-payment penalties. Application fees and legal costs may apply. 
• Average turnaround time from application to approval can be two to three weeks after application. Ability to provide a decision in a timely manner depends on completeness and accuracy of the information provided.
