Rural Entrepreneurship Hub

The Rural Entrepreneurship Hub will provide new and existing entrepreneurs access to experienced and trained facilitators, certified coaches, trainers, experts, advisors, and consultants. It serves as a hub for rural entrepreneurship solutions, programs, training, expertise, and coaching support.  The training and workshop offerings listed below have been offered in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan for the past 3 years, receiving great reviews from participants.
Our approach will continue to be client specific, ensuring that clients get exactly what they require to grow as an entrepreneur in a rural environment. Services will be accessible to anyone eager to engage in entrepreneurship.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR & BUSINESS COACH!

From Idea to Concept (1.5 Hrs, FREE) – As a precursor to a variety of programs, this workshop guides potential entrepreneurs through the conceptual development of their business idea. Participants will explore an idea (or many ideas) and will begin defining their initial business concept. These steps are a need that has been identified as a gap that entrepreneurs need to work through before successful completing other programs, business plans, or adding additional revenue streams to an existing business. Following participating in this workshop, participants can book one individual (1:1) coaching session.

Plan for Success (Annual and Quarterly) (1.5 Hrs, FREE) – Strategic planning support for entrepreneurs related to vision, strategy, and execution of their business plan and goals for the year. The Plan for Success suite of programming offers group sessions and individual support over including Annual Planning Workshop, Quarterly Plan Along sessions, and individual coaching around a business’s vision, strategy and execution needs.

Bookkeeping Basics with BONUS Pricing for Profit (1.5 Hrs, FREE)Whether you’re just starting out or you are an experienced small business owner, staying on top of your financial recordkeeping is critical to your success.  If learning the ropes of small-business bookkeeping sounds intimidating, have no fear. This workshop will provide you with an introduction to the best practices in keeping books for your small business. Even if you have an accountant, this class will help you understand why good bookkeeping is valuable for effectively running your business.  BONUS section - Pricing strategies need to include key components so the business can be profitable and thrive.  In this section, we'll showcase a handy pricing formula that you don’t want to miss!

Topics covered will include:

  • Year-end organization
  • Inventory management
  • Financial Spreadsheets to track and organize. 
  • Market & Cost Based Pricing,
  • Important factors to consider before setting final product/service prices.

Shift Program (5 Sessions, 1.5 hours each, $50) - Centered around the knowledge economy, Shift is a group program that helps individuals identify opportunities to convert their life’s work and experiences into business ventures. Over a two-month period, participants work through group sessions, individual coaching, and business building exercises with the intent to create and launch a business offering by the end of the program. Alumni from the program are also invited to attend specialized guest speaker series events throughout the year to continue to build their entrepreneurial capacity and specific skill sets.  As part of the Shift program, participants receive three individual (1:1) coaching sessions.

Destination Business Program (2 times/wk, 2 hours each, 8 wks, $50)- Get businesses thinking in a different way about their marketing.  They can become destinations, pulling customers in from beyond their local community.  Participants just need to understand HOW to do it and TAKE ACTION to make it happen. This course is a game-changer for any business, especially those that want to expand their client base and increase their bottom line. By helping entrepreneurs to showcase their company's uniqueness, the program enables them to breathe new life into their marketing efforts.

 Dollars and Digital Adaptation Support Service Packages – Participating clients of any 1 of the following programs have the opportunity to receive support funds paid by CF Parkland (up to $750) on their behalf to a service provider.  Qualifying services include marketing, social media, services that assist clients to increase their online presence, training on finances and customer management software.

Eligibility

  • Anyone interested in starting a business
  • Is a for-profit business that is registered or incorporated (including for-profit social enterprises and co-operatives)
  • Is consumer-facing (sells goods and services directly to end consumers)
  • Located in rural Manitoba, or if we have some Saskatchewan friends interested, we will happily include you if we are not full.

Your business is not eligible if it is:

  • A corporate chain, franchise or registered charity
  • A representative of a multi-level marketing company
  • A brokerage firm, such as real estate agents, investment advisors, insurance agents, etc.
  • A business that is engaged in online reselling or drop-shipping reliant on third-party suppliers.
