Success Stories

dee hairstyling 1

My name is Deanna Van Caeseele. I am the proud owner of Dee’s Hairstyling Off Main. I have been a hairstylist for 25 years. I have been employed by various employers.  I gained a lot of knowledge in those years and have life long friendships as a result.   My family had been encouraging me to open my own hair salon for quite some time.  Honestly the thought of it made me sick.   I knew I had the book/financial  smarts but I didn’t think my clients would follow me.   Twice in a 7 year span my places of employment unexpectedly shut down.  In 2019 I had enough and decided it was time to find out if I had what it took.

Greenstone was so awesome to me.  They made the situation very real in what it would require to start a business.  As well with financing they went above and beyond to help me.  They even brought my papers to the rink to sign.  I now do not regret this decision. I have survived 2 Covid shutdowns and in my third as I write this.  I am grateful to my family, my clients, and Greenstone for making this possible.

My shop is located at #6-31 Church Street. The salon is wheelchair accessible. I have products for retail sale and gift certificates for that special someone. I am happy to order special items upon request. Call today to treat yourself 204-923-0060.

Karens Kid Zone

Karen and John Carriere are a husband and wife team who were looking for something to do as they enjoy retirement.  "We noticed a need for a store like ours in our community and decided we would like to make it happen.  With help with some family and friends and also a loan from Community Futures Greenstone, we opened our store on November 1, 2019.  We sell a variety of used clothing for children 12 years and under, as well as toys and baby items.  We strive to keep the store well stocked and will shop in outlying communities to get the products our customers need."

"We are very proud today to say our loan is paid.  We are very grateful to Community Futures Greenstone for believing in us and their help in many ways.  It has been a pleasure working with them and all their support.  Look for us on Facebook and happy shopping!"
