Community Futures Westman hosted an entrepreneurship and networking event September 21 at the CF office in Brandon. Bosslady was the first event (of hopefully many) that brought females interested in business but who weren't sure where to start. 25 women entrepreneurs attended this first time event with hopes of growing their knowledge and network in either starting or expanding their small business.
Hosted in partnership with Entrepreneurship Manitoba, Meighen Haddad Law Firm and Sheilds Real Estate Group, the event had numerous speakers offer insight as to the services readily available to them in the community and surrounding area. Speaker included representatives from Entrepreneurship Manitoba, Meighen Haddad Law Firm, Sunrise Credit Union and Community Futures Westman. Roger Guy spoke about the services offered at Community Futures Westman "We work with the small business community in helping people get their business from the conceptual stage to being fully operational. Whether that be assisting in writing a business plan, to offering our loan services we pride ourselves in business success in the Westman region." He would go on to add "Any assistance and service we offer is free of charge - we don't charge for any of our services being a non-profit federal service provider."
This wine and cheese event is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other entrepreneurs, and see what resources are out there to be used in the growth of small business.
Organizers are already looking at hosting another BossLady event, seeing the increased interest and high attendance of this event. Once confirmed, be sure to keep an eye out for further information. The events are free to attend and provide great networking opportunities.
