Local Initiatives Program 2021 Grant Recipients

The purpose of the Local Initiatives Program was to strengthen our communities by supporting small scale projects led by non-profit organizations and municipalities, that strive to enhance community economic development efforts and tourism.
Community Economic Development (CED) means an inclusive, strategic, long-term, integrated, and community-driven approach to local economic development whereby a community takes responsibility for planning and implementing measures to improve their economic future, well-being, and quality of life. The projects varied considerably from one community to another and included a wide range of local initiatives in areas such as tourism, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunities.

We were pleased to receive 17 applications from around our region. After careful evaluation by the Community Economic Development Committee of Community Futures Westman here are the 5 recipients of a $3000.00 grant towards their project.

Brandon Neighborhood Renewal Corporation – Masterclass Instruction for Maker Space
Souris Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Countdown to Christmas
Virden Boost Committee – A Very Virden Christmas
Carberry Chamber of Commerce - #shopcarberry promotion
RM of Pipestone - Peanut Line Trail

Community Futures Westman want to acknowledge all of the applications that were submitted and extend our thanks to the work you are doing in your communities to help further both community and economic growth. Watch in the spring for more grant opportunities.
