Local Initiatives Program (LIP)

Community Futures Westman is a not-for-profit organization, funded through the Western Economic Diversification Fund, to provide programs and services to support enterprise, community-based development, tourism incentives that lead to economic growth and employment in our region.

Purpose of the Local Initiatives Program

The purpose of the Local Initiatives Program is to strengthen our communities by supporting small scale- projects led by non-profit organizations and municipalities, that strive to enhance community economic development efforts and tourism.

Community Economic Development (CED) means an inclusive, strategic, long-term, integrated, and community-driven approach to local economic development whereby a community takes responsibility for planning and implementing measures to improve their economic future, well-being, and quality of life.  These projects would vary considerably from one community to another and could include a wide range of local initiatives in areas such as tourism, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunities for specific client groups such as women, youth, Indigenous people, and members of official language minorities.

Funding Available:

  • Non repayable contributions of up to $3,000.00 of eligible costs
  • Applications will be received between October 15, 2021, to November 15, 2021, at 4:00 pm.
